JOHANNESBURG, 14 November 2016 – Three suspects recently appeared in the Kriel Magistrate’s Court on charges related to copper theft, Eskom’s Security Risk Division reported today.
Mbombela, Mpumalanga, 10 November 2016 – Fifteen people have died while nine sustained serious injuries in electricity theft-related incidents in Mpumalanga’s Ehlanzeni District Municipality between 2013 and 2016. This is according to Eskom’s latest public safety report for its Mpumalanga Operating Unit shown at a media briefing hosted by Operation Khanyisa, the power utility’s national campaign aimed at fighting electricity theft, on Thursday, 10 November 2016.
Johannesburg, 27 October 2016 – Eskom has adopted undercover investigation tactics to curb the increase in the number of incidents where people are illegally reconnected after their electricity service has been disconnected for offences such as meter tampering, illegal connections and the use of illegal prepaid vouchers.
