It is up to all South Africans to report any suspected electricity theft – silence gives perpetrators the space to continue with their illegal activities. Primedia Crimeline is a partner of the Operation Khanyisa campaign to prevent electricity crimes.

People can report electricity theft anonymously. It is very important, however, that as many details as possible are supplied. These details include:

  1. The specific place or address of the crime, or description of the place
  2. Description and name of the suspect (if it is known)
  3. Nature of the crime (e.g. illegal connections, meter tampering, cable theft)

The numbers to remember are:

  1. Primedia Crimeline: SMS 32211 (costs are R1/SMS. SMSs remain anonymous)
  2. Eskom Crime Reporting Line: 0800 11 27 22 (toll-free and highly confidential)

Reports can also be made at www.crimeline.co.za
